“Brother Scism opened Cross-Cultural Focus on Missions by explaining his vision for the future of missions and then visiting the past.  The class covered the history of missions from an ecumenical perspective and then continued with an Apostolic perspective.  He then allowed many different missionaries to guest-lecture about their vision for the future of missions.  Some guests included Bruce Howell, Director of Foreign Missions, T. Wynn Drost, Carl Varnell, Daniel Scott, Richard Denny, Lloyd Shirley, Jerry Richardson, and John Leaman.  They all brought incredible perspectives about missions.  Their teachings were unified in these two themes: Understand culture so we do not confuse preaching the gospel with preaching our culture, and the concept of the indigenous church should be the guiding factor in missions--meaning that the goal of missions should be to create a work that is operated by the local community and connected globally by the gospel.  The passion and resolve of all of the teachers gave me a renewed sense of passion for missions, not just for the faces of people on a poster, but for my neighbor.“---Nate Binion

“Taking Romans this past J-term has significantly impacted my life.  I recently was speaking with a friend of mine who is not in the church, but is studying the writings of Paul as part of a college course.  She had several questions about the book of Romans which I would not have been able to answer coherently and consistently with the rest of the Bible if it had not been for what I learned through the wisdom and anointing of Bro. Segraves writing and teaching.  The reality and truth of what I was able to communicate to her regarding liberty and faith has inspired her to want a Bible Study.  This is someone I have known for a long time and has never expressed interest in such a thing hitherto.”---Marjorie Truman

Church History I was an exciting, eye-opening class.  Prof. Beardsley taught well, and I believe that the thinking of any student in that class will be forever changed.  The course was both challenging and enjoyable. The life of Christ, the Apostles, and the early Church were examined against the backdrop of the Roman Empire, Greek civilization, and Judaism.  This period of time is amazing for its vitality and complexity, and one with many parallels to our own day.  As the church of today confronts its own world with the truth of the Gospel, there is no period of history more important to understand than this one.”---Chad Moore

“Urshan Graduate School of Theology presented the best possible individuals to teach the class of Cross-Cultural Focus on Missions with guest teacher Harry E Scism.  He took our class from a small amount of knowledge about missions to a never to be the same again amount of knowledge where "going into the whole world and preaching the gospel" made perfect sense.  My wife and I will never see our neighbors the same again.  Our class felt the spirit of God in such a special way during each teaching session, becoming one in thought energized to evangelize.  We immediately wanted to make ourselves available for the work of the Lord starting in our communities and extending into the world.  Thank you so much for the opportunity of attending this life expanding experience.”---Mike Williamson

The Apostolic Leadership Series course I took this January was absolutely fantastic.  Adjunct Professor Robin Johnston framed the one-week intensive course with two lectures introducing and tying together what was presented from historical and theological perspectives.  The majority of the nearly 40 hours spent in the classroom consisted of enriching interaction with guest speakers N. A. Urshan, Bishop Johnson, Jesse Williams, Nona Freeman, and W. C. Parkey in the form of lectures on leadership, discussion of these individuals' perspective on leadership, discussion of issues in the Apostolic movement, question-and-answer sessions, videotaped interviews, and relaxed conversations in the classroom and lounge during breaks between sessions.  What was produced for me was an incredible experience that I will treasure for the rest of my life.  The enormous privilege of sitting in the presence of revered elder leaders in the Oneness Pentecostal movement and listening as they shared their experience, wisdom, dreams, passions, and perspective on important issues and events was beyond description.  I ended the course with 25 pages of priceless notes and an overwhelming inspiration for personal growth.”---Nathanael Turner
